Munster League Round 1 #Supportyourlocalbikeshop"Build it and they will come".
Now the dust (and a bit of mud) has settled after last weekends racing in Fota, we have had time to sit back and take in the whole experience. It was one of the greatest days in the club's history and that is not an understatement. Word's cannot do the experience and the pride that all club members, and Munster League committee members felt on Sunday but hopefully the album, and video link below give a sense of how successful the day was. Cross officially has arrived in Munster. Please visit their webpage, facebook page, and find out more about what they do (and then give them a bit of business if you can- they are a great bunch). So here goes: Thanks to the 105 competitors for entering and making the race day a success. Without you we have no race. Thanks to our main race sponsor Cafe Velo (www.cafevelo.ie) for investing in the race. They gave a considerable amount both in contributing to the cost of the race, as well as prizes. Go there for lunch and a coffee the next time that you're in Town. You won't be disappointed. Thanks to John McCarthy of McCarthy Cycles (www.mccarthycycles.ie) for sponsoring prizes and contributing to the overall league fund through the Support Your Local Bike Shop initiative. Also he has contributed significant sponsorship to the club for the last 3 seasons, and this also helped massively in the financial side of the race. Thanks to Centra (www.centra.ie), the club's title sponsor. Their significant sponsorship of the club (along with McCarthy Cycles) over the last 3 years are why we could afford to cover the cost of this race even if no one entered. Think of this the next time you're buying a few bits for dinner- without them the league would more than likely have one race less. Thanks to velorevolution for making us look like pros- #dresslikeapro. www.velorevolution.eu Thanks to Karen M. Edwards for being our event photographer, after her long season chasing pro races across the continent! (www.kmeddiephotography.com) Thanks to the OPW, Fota House and Gardens, and Fota Wildlife park. Without them being so positive towards the promotion of this event, we would not have had such a spectacular venue for a race. Thanks to Purcell scaffolding for providing a truck and barriers for the event. Thanks Nom Nom mobile Cafe. Any outdoor events give him a shout. Great coffee, food, and service with a smile. Find him here www.facebook.com/nomnomcafecork/ Thanks to Munster Cycling. They have contributed to the league for this season which really shows the growth in Cyclocross and is a brilliant development for the league going forward. Thanks to John Dempsey and Verge sports for contributing a significant amount of sponsorship (not only the leaders jerseys) to the Munster League. www.vergesports.com/ir-en Thanks to the Support Your Local Bike Shop initiative who are also a major backer of the league. Here's what we had to say about your LBS and why you should support them for your cycling needs: stfinbarrscyclingclub.weebly.com/home/support-your-local-bike-shop Now I really hope I haven't forgotten anybody............Race reports on how the lads got on will be posted later in the week, and a league table (provisional) will also be posted on the website before the weekend.
